Sony Receiver IP Driver Release Notes

Introduction

The release of the Sony Receiver IP driver allows you to integrate Sony receivers (models listed below) with Clare Home over IP. This integration supports up to three separate entertainment zones.

No software installation or download is necessary. Simply install the Sony receiver, set a static IP address, enable several functions in the receiver, and then select the Sony STR Series 2011 and up template in Fusion.

This release supports the following models:

Note: The following models are supported, additional models may be compatible but have not been tested.

Installation

Only qualified technicians should install or connect any devices used with Clare Controls products. Refer to the installation instructions that came with your Sony receiver. Clare Controls does not assume any responsibility for damages caused by improper installation or connection to the network.

Before configuring the Sony receiver in Fusion, you must set a static IP address, enable Network Standby, Remote Start, and External Control.

Note: Menu options may vary by model.

To set a Static IP address:

1. Access the receiver and press the Home button on the remote.

The menu displays.

2. Browse to Internet Settings.

Setup > Network Settings > Internet Settings

3. Select the wired connection method.

An IPV6 dialog displays.

4. Select No, and then the IPV4 configuration displays.

5. Select Custom, and then configure the IP address information.

6. Press the right directional arrow on the remote.
A proxy server dialog displays.

7. Select No.

An IP summary displays.

8. Press the right arrow on the remote, and then select Save and Connect.

An IP confirmation screen displays.

9. Click Ok.

You are returned to the Network Settings menu.

To enable Network Standby:

1. Press the Home button on the remote to return to the main menu.

2. Browse to Network Standby.

Setup > System Settings > Quick Start/Network Standby

3. Toggle the Quick Start/Network Standby option to On.

4. Return to the main menu.

To enable Remote Start and External Control:

1. Press the Home button on the remote to return to the main menu.

2. Browse to Enable External Control.

Setup > Network Settings > External Control

3. Toggle Enable External Control to On.

4. Press the arrow keys on the remote up/down to view Remote Start.

5. Toggle Remote Start to On.

Exit the menu and add the Sony receiver in Fusion.

Configuring the device in Fusion

Configure the device in Fusion to enable the Sony STR Series receiver to function with the Clare Controls UI.

To add the Sony STR receiver:

1. Open your Fusion project.

2. Click the Devices tab, and then click the New Device button.

The Select Template dialog displays.

3. Browse to Sony Receiver – STR Series – 2011 & UP.

4. Entertainment IP Devices > Receiver > Sony Receiver – STR Series – 2011 & UP

5. Click OK.

The Sony Receiver – STR Series 2011 and Up – Device Wizard displays.

6. Select the number of zones, and then click OK.

Note: There is a maximum of 3 zones.

7. The Devices tab displays. If desired, enter a name and notes for the device.

8. Click the Configure tab, and then enter the Network Address and verify that the Network Port is set to 33335.

9. Click the Save button.

To configure the entertainment zones:

1. Return to the Devices tab and expand the Sony IP receiver to view the zones.

Note: All zones are labeled as ZONE by default.

2. Double-click a zone to configure it. The Details tab displays, enter a name and notes for that zone.

3. Click the Configure tab, and then enter the zone number in the Value field.

4. Click the Save and Close button.

5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each zone.

To create a service for the Sony receiver:

1. Click the Services tab, and then click the New Service Instance button.

The New Service Instance dialog displays.

2. Enter the name of the service in the Name field, select the area, and then click Entertainment Service.

3. Click Next to display the Devices tab.

4. In the left panel, select the devices you want to use in the service.

5. In the right panel, set the values for each control point.

Click the Value field to view the drop-down menu, and then select the device.

6. Click Next to display the Scenes tab.

To configure the scene:

1. In the Start Sequence field, select Create new Scene, and then click the New Device Operation button.

2. Configure the Device, Function, and Operation drop-down menus with the following values.

Device: Select the desired receiver zone or device.

Function: Select the desired function to use for the receiver zone – for example, Switch.

Operation: The desired function state – for example, Turn On.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each being used.

4. Go to the Stop Sequence field, select Create new Scene, and then click the New Device Operation button.

5. Configure the Device, Function, and Operation drop-down menus with the desired values.

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other devices being used with the receiver.

7. Click Finish.

8. Deploy the project.
