How can I fix streaming issues when viewing a camera feed in the ClareVision App?

Last Modified 05/07/21

If you encounter streaming issues when utilizing the ClareVision App, it may be necessary to adjust the video encoding standard in the camera to H.265 due to bandwidth limitations on your mobile device.

Adjusting video encoding for a standalone camera:

  1. Utilize IP Search Tool to find your camera on the network and notate the IP Address.
  2. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to the IP address for your camera.
  3. Login to the camera using the credentials that you used at setup.
  4. Click on Configuration, then click on “Video” in the navigation tree on the left side of the screen.
  5. Next, click on “Video” in the sub-menu to load the camera’s Video settings page.
  6. Ensure that “Main Stream” is selected in the Stream Type dropdown menu, change the “Video Encoding” to H.265, and then click save.
  7. Finally, please close the ClareVision app on your mobile device and reopen it to refresh your connection to the camera. At this point, you should be able to view the live stream of the camera that was previously freezing, jumping frames, or unable to stream.

Adjusting video encoding standard for a camera attached to an NVR:

  1. Utilize IP Search Tool to find your NVR on the network and notate the IP Address.
  2. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to the IP address for your NVR.
  3. Login to the NVR using the credentials that you used at setup.
  4. Click on Configuration, then click on “Channel” in the navigation tree on the left side of the screen.
  5. Next, click on “Camera” in the sub-menu to load the NVR’s camera channel page.
  6. Click on the “Conf.” (Configuration) link for the camera that needs to be modified.
  7. Ensure that the “Main Stream” is selected in the Video Type dropdown, change the Video Encoding dropdown to H.265, and then click save.
  8. Finally, please close the ClareVision app on your mobile device and reopen it to refresh your connection to the NVR. At this point, you should be able to view the live stream of the camera on the NVR that was previously freezing, jumping frames, or unable to stream.
