Global Cache Release Notes

Introduction

Clare Controls integrates with Global Caché devices to enable Wi-Fi and IP communication to the ClareHome system. You can integrate the Global Caché devices to a ClareHome control system so that your customers can send commands to a wider range of devices in their system.

Global Caché models supported:

  • GC-100 1
  • iTach
  • iTach Flex
  • iTach Flex Link

Installing the Global Caché device

Only qualified technicians should install or connect any devices used with Clare Controls products. Refer to the installation instructions that came with your Global Caché device. Clare Controls does not assume any responsibility for damages caused by improper installation or connection to the data network.

iTach Flex Link

We currently support the following iTach Flex Link cables.

  • Flex Link RS232 Serial Cable
  • Flex Link 3 Emitter Cable
  • Flex Link Relay and Sensor Cable
  • Flex Link Emitter Cable
  • Flex Link Blaster Cable
  • Flex Link Tri-port Cable

Note: This cable is only supported with single IR connections.

Configuring the device

When configuring the Global Caché device, you must set a static IP address. You need the current IP address of the Global Caché device to access and configure its settings. Use Global Caché’s iHelp or another IP scanner to find the device’s current IP address.

Note: To access the Global Caché device, your computer and the device must be on the same network.

To assign a static IP address to the legacy Global Caché devices:

1. Open a web browser, and then enter the device’s IP address in the address bar.

2. Press enter.

The Global Caché configuration page displays.

3. Click Network, and then enter the desired IP address in the IP Address field.

Note: Do not select the Enable Lock checkbox.

4. Click Save.

To assign a static IP address to the iTach Flex and iTach Flex Link:

1. Open a web browser, and then enter the device’s IP address in the address bar.

2. Press enter.
The iTach Flex Configuration page displays.

3. Click Network Settings.

4. Click DHCP Enabled to expand the Flex’s configuration options.

5. Enter the desired IP address in the IP Address field, and then click Save Changes.

Using the Global Caché device with Fusion

After connecting the device and configuring its static IP address, configure the Global Caché in Fusion.

To use the Global Caché legacy device in Fusion:

1. Access your project in Fusion, and then click the Plus icon to add a new device.

2. Select the desired device template, and then expand the Communication Method drop-down.

3. Select Other, and then click OK.
The device Details tab displays.

4. Enter a name and notes for the device, and then click the Configure tab.

5. Expand the Connector Number’s Value field, and then select the Global Caché device and port/connection.

6. Configure the device’s other details, and then click Save.

To use the iTach Flex device in Fusion:

1. Access your project in Fusion, and then click the Plus icon to add a new device.

2. Select the desired device template, and then expand the Communication Method drop-down.

3. Select Other, and then click OK.
The device Details tab displays.

4. Enter a name and notes for the device, and then click the Configure tab.

5. Expand the Connector Number’s Value field, and then select the Flex device and port/connection in use.

6. Configure the device’s other details, and then click Save .
