What is "Instant Arm" and when should it be used?

Arm Stay vs Instant Arm

The ClareOne panel supports two methods of Arm Stay. They are Arm Stay and Arm Stay with Instant Arm, simply referred to as Instant Arm throughout the rest of this article.

Arm Stay allows users to Arm the ClareOne panel while still "inside" the building. This Arms all zones except for Interior Motion sensors, allowing the user to move freely about inside the building without tripping the Interior Motion sensors. When Arm Stay is initiated, it activates the Exit Delay timer allowing users to exit the building before the ClareOne is fully Armed Stay. Lastly, when in Arm Stay, users can enter the building through an Entry/Exit zone which initiates the Entry Delay timer and allows the user to disarm the ClareOne before triggering an alarm.

Instant Arm should be activated only when there is no expectation that a user will either exit or enter the building once the ClareOne is Armed. It defeats both the Exit and Entry Delays resulting in an "Instant" alarm when any zone is triggered before the ClareOne is disarmed.

Instant Arm is initiated by tapping the Arm Stay button on the ClareOne panel then tapping the Instant Arm button. This action will cancel the Exit Delay timer, silence the panel countdown "beeps", and Instant Arm the ClareOne

Arm Stay not Silent

It is a common misconception that the intention of Instant Arm is simply to defeat the Exit Delay timer and silence the countdown beeps. As described previously it also defeats the Entry Delay and instantly alarms the ClareOne panel when a zone is tripped. If a user wants to silence the countdown beeps, they should initiate silent arming. This is done by first toggling the "Silent Arm" option to "On" then tapping either Arm Stay or Arm Away. Using this option doubles the Exit Delay timer. Also note that it is not permanent, Silent Arm must be initiated every time a silent arm is desired.
