Visually striking and technologically advanced, the new ClareRemote will be hailed by users and dealers
SARASOTA, Fla. September 6, 2012 – Clare Controls, a provider of configurable and intuitive automated systems for residential and commercial applications, introduces the ClareRemote, an iPod-based handheld that transitions the usability of the company’s iPad home automation controller to a smaller platform intended to control the entertainment functionality of the home control solution. In an important improvement over traditional RF wand remotes, the ClareRemote is programmable from the cloud, slashing the time and resources integrators invest in remote setup and maintenance.
The ClareRemote consists of an Apple iPod Touch enclosed in an aesthetically striking chassis. It provides large, context-sensitive screens and one-touch commands that make it simple for users to control and enjoy their entertainment applications. In addition to the iPod touchscreen, the device provides rosette volume and channel controls, plus programmable soft keys for access to guides, favorites, etc.
“At Clare Controls, everything we design – hardware or software – must address our prime directives: to make our dealers more productive, to streamline the integration process and/or to redefine the user experience,” said Brett Price, CEO. “Accordingly, the ClareRemote is more than just a pretty peripheral. It offers significant technical benefits to our dealers.”
The ClareRemote communicates with the control automation system via Wi-Fi, erasing the need for RF-to-IP ancillaries. This cuts dealer cost and time, eliminating an extra conversion and an extra set of components. It also frees integrators from the onerous task of programing 3rd party RF wand remotes, and then returning to the customer’s home to do it all over again every time he or she buys a new TV.
Like the Clare Controls home control interface running on customers’ iPads, the ClareRemote user interface is rendered from the ClareOS, running in the home. It is, therefore, also managed from the cloud, using the Fusion Configuration Tool. Dealers working off-site can update customers’ remotes and push their mods to the customers’ equipment with a single command, without a truck roll, without requiring system shutdown or restart, and without interrupting other running services.
The end result is a significant reduction in the time and money dealers invest in remote control acquisition, programming and maintenance, with an accompanying rise in customer satisfaction.
The ClareRemote’s sleek enclosure was designed by ROBRADY Design of Sarasota, Fl. ROBRADY is an award-winning international industrial design and development studio that provides a broad assortment of design and engineering services to clients including Yamaha, Polaris, Mercedes Benz and General Electric.
