I know that you visit this blog to read about home automation. But first, I’d like to say a few words about my refrigerator.
I confess: I didn’t build my refrigerator. I can’t even tell you how it works. Something to do with a compressor? I just know that when I open the door, there’s cold stuff inside.
There’s more: I didn’t even go shopping for my refrigerator. When I bought my house, it was included. We had an upgrade option in the model center – my wife liked the stainless finish, so we went with that. But otherwise, all that really matters is that it’s a brand with national support. If something goes wrong, I know that the manufacturer is standing behind the builder, with a service network to make it right. Easy.
Bottom line? I don’t know much about refrigerators because I don’t have to. I didn’t build it, deliver it or even plug it in. Nevertheless, I consider myself a very competent and satisfied refrigerator customer. I just open the door and…cold stuff. Every time. How awesome would it be if home automation could deliver the same experience?
OK, by now you’ve figured out that’s exactly where I’m heading. Clare Controls is making home automation nearly as simple as owning a refrigerator.
The Automation-As-Appliance Experience
Another confession: I didn’t build my ClareHome system. And since I’m not an engineer, I can’t tell you exactly how it works, either. Something to do with microprocessors? I just know that when I touch an icon on my iPad, my lights come on.
And, no, I didn’t go shopping for the system. Since I bought my home from a participating builder, the core of the ClareHome system was included. We just picked our applications in the model center – my wife liked the speaker upgrade, so we went with that. Like the manufacturer of my fridge, Clare Controls provides national support. I know that they’re standing behind the builder, with a local service network (i.e., the dealer who installed the system) to make it right. Easy.
(If my contractor wasn’t in the ClareHome Builder’s Program, I would have purchased it directly from the local certified dealer. There’s no comparison between the value of my Clare and those cable company add-ons!)
Bottom line? ClareHome is so easy for my whole family to use that it “feels” like any other appliance…but with a cool factor that’s off the scale. I don’t know much about automation because I don’t have to. I’m a very competent and satisfied ClareHome customer. I just touch an icon and…music throughout the house. Every time. Awesome!
